Jetour’s T1 and T2 mid-size SUVs have received Australian Design Rule certification ahead of their expected Australian launch in early 2027. The brand, part of China’s Chery Group, is preparing to enter the market with a locally managed operation. Both SUVs use unibody construction, with the T2 taking a more upright, rugged-looking approach than the sleeker T1.
Australian approval filings list a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, as well as a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol plug-in hybrid offered with front- or all-wheel drive. The listed front-drive PHEV combines a 105kW engine with a 150kW electric motor, for a stated maximum system output of 255kW. The all-wheel-drive version adds a 175kW rear motor and is listed at up to 430kW. PHEV towing capacity is listed at 1,600kg; the petrol model’s is 1,900kg.
The T2’s filing identifies a PHEV with three electric motors and maximum possible output of 445kW. It lists 1,600kg of braked towing capacity, while Jetour says the T2 PHEV has differential locks and off-road driving modes. The T1 measures about 4.7 metres long and the T2 about 4.83 metres; both have a 2,800mm wheelbase. Certification does not necessarily mean every approved powertrain or variant will be sold. Jetour has also indicated that the F700 ute and G700 off-road SUV will follow, no earlier than the second half of 2027.
