Jetta has officially introduced the M6 in China, an electric sedan developed under the Jetta brand created by FAW and Volkswagen Group. Jetta is a standalone brand in the Chinese market rather than simply the name of a Volkswagen model. The M6 is its first electric car aimed at the mass market, measuring 4.8 metres long and adopting a fastback profile. Its styling—with rounded forms, narrow headlights and a low front end—has more in common with some Chinese-brand cars than with Volkswagen Group’s familiar European designs.

Two powertrain configurations are offered. The entry version pairs a 42.9-kWh battery with a 152-hp electric motor, for a claimed range of 465 km and a 0–100 km/h time of 8.3 seconds. Higher-priced versions use a 51.9-kWh battery and a 194-hp motor, with Jetta citing up to 555 km of range per charge. The standard equipment list includes a 15.6-inch central display, an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera and automatic parking assistance. Higher trims add features such as ventilated, heated and massaging front seats, a panoramic roof, wireless phone charging and Level 2 driver assistance with Navigate On Autopilot functionality.

In China, the M6 starts at the equivalent of 214,800 Mexican pesos and is open for reservations. Jetta has not confirmed sales in other markets, though expansion into Central Asia is presented as a possibility; Mexico is not currently in its plans. The launch comes as Volkswagen Group continues to build out its China-specific business, including the Jetta partnership with FAW, the China-only AUDI brand and locally developed Volkswagen models supported by XPeng.
