BYD’s next-generation Seagull has reached Chinese dealerships ahead of its expected commercial launch on October 20, 2026. Public orders opened on October 9, but BYD has not yet disclosed the model’s versions or prices. The new car is a substantial change from the current Seagull, growing closer in size to the Dolphin; it remains unclear whether the two Seagull generations will be sold alongside each other.
The new hatchback measures 4.20 metres long, 1.81 metres wide and 1.57 metres tall, with a 2.65-metre wheelbase. That represents 42.5 centimetres more length and 15 centimetres more wheelbase than before. Exterior details include angular front styling, three-point light signatures, semi-flush door handles and 16-inch black wheels. Buyers will be offered six exterior colours: green, orange, white, pink, blue and grey.
Inside, a central display combines driving information with navigation and media functions, while physical controls remain. The driver’s electrically adjustable seat includes a massage function. Other features include rear air vents, wireless phone charging, a 94-litre powered front trunk and up to 1,380 litres of rear cargo space with the second row folded.
Power comes from a rear-mounted 127-hp motor and LFP batteries of 30 or 39.2 kWh. BYD quotes CLTC ranges of 320 and 420 kilometres, respectively, and the car also offers ultra-fast charging. Higher trims are reported to include God’s Eye B driver assistance with LiDAR. No international launch, including a possible Colombian arrival, has been confirmed; the report says further news may come in 2027.
