Omoda has revealed the X at Chery’s International User Summit in Wuhu, China, introducing a tougher design direction for the Chinese brand. The crossover stands apart from Omoda’s existing, more streamlined models with angular bodywork, prominent wheel-arch cladding and a blunt front end. A special self-healing paint coating is intended to help protect the finish from scratches, and optional accessories will add to its adventure-focused look in some markets.

The X is presented as more than a styling exercise. Omoda quotes 200mm of ground clearance and a maximum wading depth of 700mm, alongside off-road tyres and a towing capacity of 1,700kg. Its roof rack is rated to carry up to 75kg. The company has not yet confirmed powertrain choices, but expects the model to draw from Chery Group’s hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric options. A configurable X Mode will adjust vehicle responses and cabin lighting.

Inside, the crossover combines a 13.2-inch portrait touchscreen with a 10.25-inch digital instrument display. Its equipment also includes an AI assistant, heated and ventilated front seats, and more than 20 driver-assistance functions. Omoda says a thermal camera can detect hazards at night from up to 90 metres away; a karaoke feature adds an entertainment option.

The X is planned to sit below a future flagship and above the entry-level model in Omoda’s lineup. Those three vehicles are expected over the next three years, but the company has not said which will reach the UK. The Omoda 4 hybrid is due in UK showrooms in the first half of 2027, ahead of that wider rollout.
