OneShift Crowns BYD Sealion 7 as Its 2025 Car of the Year

The Singapore platform's annual awards lean heavily electric, with BYD, IM Motors and Dongfeng among the biggest winners across a long list of EV categories.

OneShift by Carousell, the Singapore vehicle marketplace, has published its Car of the Year 2025 results, and the overall crown goes to the BYD Sealion 7 Performance. Judges highlighted the dual-motor electric SUV's mix of more than 500 bhp, 690 Nm and roughly 460 km of range — delivered at a price far below comparable German premium machinery — along with all-wheel drive and steering sharpness rarely found in the segment.

The Sealion 7 Performance proved the standout of the whole programme, also collecting EV of the Year and the Premium EV Mid-sized SUV (Cat B) title. BYD added a fourth win through the Atto 2, named Premium EV Hatchback of the Year.

IM Motors matched BYD's haul with four category victories: the IM5 took EV Sedan and Premium EV Sedan (Cat A), while the IM6 earned Premium EV (Cat A) plus the mid-sized SUV (Cat A) award in Luxury trim. The Dongfeng 007, credited with 650 km of WLTP range and a 19-speaker WANOS sound system, swept both Cat B trophies, and Proton's e.MAS 7 doubled up in the two compact SUV classes.

MG's S5, JMEV's ELIGHT, the Jaecoo 6, GAC's Hyptec HT and Maxus's MIFA 7 rounded out the winners' list. Nearly every honoured model is battery-electric; the programme also includes hybrid, ICE and highlights categories whose results were not shown in the excerpt provided.
