A shipment of 179 electric buses from China has arrived at Karachi Port, Pakistan. The vessel MV RUINING 6 carried the buses from Yingkou to Karachi Gateway Terminal Multipurpose Limited (KGTML).
The cargo is consigned to Margalla Heavy Industries Limited in Taxila Cantt. Pakistan’s port authority facilitated the buses’ arrival and unloading at KGTML.
Officials have not disclosed the buses’ specifications, their operating authority, intended routes or deployment schedule. It is also unclear which public transport project will receive them. The arrival comes as provincial governments in Pakistan pursue electric-bus projects and seek to expand cleaner public transport fleets.
