At its sixth Tech Ecosystem Conference, Changan put its self-developed driver-assist stack, Tianshu Pilot, on full display, split into Pro, Max, Ultra and Ultimate tiers and built on a one-stage end-to-end architecture. The Qiyuan Q06, a 150,000-yuan-class midsize SUV with pre-sale prices of 149,900 to 191,900 yuan, opened bookings at the event as the first model to carry the entire range.
For Changan, the case for going in-house rests on scale. It sold 2.913 million vehicles in 2025, up 8.5 percent, and argues that volume is worth little in the next round of competition unless it feeds the company's own data loops and algorithms. The end-to-end model was trained on more than 20 million paired data segments and validated over roughly 1.45 billion kilometers before launch, supported by a smart-tech team of more than 7,500 people and over 60 billion yuan of cumulative investment over the past decade. To price the tech into the 150,000-yuan bracket, Changan is betting on bulk purchasing: Hesai's ATX lidar holds an exclusive designation spanning ten-plus models, with orders set to exceed 1.5 million units.
The bigger signal is that Changan intends to sell the system to other carmakers. Vice president He Gang said Tianshu has finished road tests with several outside OEMs, with strategic agreements due soon and large-scale deployment on non-Changan models expected next year, alongside a highway NCA launch overseas. He predicts only five or six suppliers will remain competitive after the industry's first shakeout in 2028, with Changan and Huawei's Yinwang — the smart-driving unit in which Changan's Avatr arm bought a 10 percent stake in 2024 — among the survivors.
Early demand looks solid: the Q06 took more than 11,000 pre-orders in two hours, 53 percent of them for the Ultra trim, in a segment crowded with the XPeng G6, BYD Song L EV and Leapmotor C11. The SUV's deeper job, though, is to put enough cars on the road to spin the data flywheel and to serve as Changan's proof of cost, delivery and real-world performance for prospective clients. Qiyuan has been set a target of 50,000 to 60,000 monthly sales by year-end and 400,000 for the year.
