Expo Auto Chino opened on Friday, October 2, at Buenos Aires’ Costa Salguero convention center. The event, dedicated to vehicles of Chinese origin, is scheduled to run through the following Sunday, with 26 brands exhibiting across 13,000 square meters. Its press day featured a series of presentations and launch announcements from importers and automakers active in Argentina.

Several brands outlined new products or market entries. Chery’s local representative launched the Himla mid-size pickup, while Omoda and Jaecoo made their official Argentine debut and said they aim to establish a local factory; their first models will initially be imported from China. Soueast returned to the market with the S06, and Deepal began pre-sales for its S05. Jetour presented the G700 plug-in hybrid SUV, with an Argentine launch planned for 2027, and said it expects to begin producing vehicles for Mercosur in 2028, potentially in Brazil.

Electrified models featured prominently. Foton opened pre-sales for its eView Connect electric van, priced from US$45,000 to US$49,500, with deliveries expected by year-end. Its two configurations offer WLTC ranges of 245 km and 310 km. Lynk & Co displayed the 900 plug-in hybrid SUV, priced at US$129,500 for pre-orders. Other previews included electric vehicles from MG and Leapmotor, plus new hybrid models from GAC and Forthing.

The event also included announcements beyond passenger cars: Shacman returned to Argentina with a truck range, JAC confirmed electric and plug-in hybrid T9 pickups initially for mining and energy fleets, and GAC said it plans to compete in the TC2000 series in 2027.
