Brazil’s SHC Group has filed a new request for judicial recovery, seeking to restructure its debts. Led by businessman Sérgio Habib, the group represents Chinese automakers JAC Motors and Ankai in Brazil. The filing covers 44 companies and cites R$239.5 million in debt. A report cited by the source says one bank alone is owed more than R$100 million; SHC did not respond to a request for comment, according to the article.
This is SHC’s second such filing. Its first, made in 2018, involved about 38 companies and R$566 million in debt, with a further R$537 million in tax liabilities excluded from the proceedings. The group’s total indebtedness was then reported at R$1.1 billion, alongside difficulty securing working capital and credit, and late payments to employees and suppliers. A 2021 report also described delayed vehicle deliveries and said that by March of that year SHC had repaid only R$957,000 of debts included in the earlier process. That proceeding ended in May 2025.
The latest filing comes about a year and five months later. SHC represents JAC passenger cars and electric trucks, as well as Ankai buses for urban transport in small, medium and large sizes. The group has reduced its dealership network in Brazil in recent years and is now headquartered in São Paulo’s Limão neighborhood.
