Brazil recorded 68,664 hatchback registrations in September 2026, representing 25.6% of the country’s 268,721 new-vehicle registrations, according to Fenabrave. The combined hatchback total was 25.4% higher than in September 2025, but 3% below August, which had the same number of working days.
The BYD Dolphin Mini topped the entry-level hatchback rankings for a sixth consecutive month, with 9,385 registrations—a new monthly record for the model in Brazil. Its tally was up from 8,297 in August and 3,389 a year earlier. Fiat Mobi placed second with 6,395, narrowly ahead of the Renault Kwid at 6,142.
In the higher-volume compact class, Volkswagen Polo led with 11,095 registrations, its strongest result since August 2025. Fiat Argo and Chevrolet Onix followed with 8,603 and 7,133, respectively. The regular BYD Dolphin recorded 4,132, down almost 39% from August, while Geely’s EX2 fell to 2,724; the report suggested limited stock may have constrained its deliveries. GAC Aion UT reached a new high of 1,471, edging the Hyundai i20’s 1,404.
Among premium hatchbacks, the MG4 led for a fourth straight month with 210 registrations. Mini Cooper models recorded 76, Audi A3 19 and Volkswagen Golf seven. The figures show contrasting September momentum across the hatchback market, with the Dolphin Mini strengthening its lead among entry models and newer nameplates competing for position.
