In Jakarta, PT Raden Reza Adi has sued BYD and several of its Indonesian dealers over use of the Denza name, seeking Rp 9.5158 trillion (about Rp 9.5 trillion) in damages. The case was registered at the Central Jakarta District Court on Sept. 8, 2026, under docket 101/Pdt.Sus-HKI/Merek/2026/PN Niaga Jkt.Pst. The defendants are due to be summoned on Feb. 23, 2027.
The plaintiff says it owns the exclusive Indonesian rights to the DENZA trademark, registration IDM001176306, for goods in class 12, which includes vehicles and related components. It alleges BYD and the other defendants used the mark without authorization and benefited commercially from it, causing material losses. The claim names seven defendants, including BYD Company Limited, PT BYD Motor Indonesia, PT BYD Auto Indonesia and four dealer companies.
Among the remedies sought, the plaintiff wants the defendants to stop importing, producing, assembling, distributing, selling and promoting vehicles bearing the DENZA name in Indonesia, and to withdraw affected products already on the market. These are requests in the lawsuit, not a court ruling. The report says BYD had not responded to a request for comment by publication. It also notes that BYD recently changed the brand’s Indonesian identity from Denza to Danza, describing the move as part of its long-term commitment to premium mobility in the country.
