BYD and several of its Indonesian business partners are facing a trademark lawsuit in Jakarta over the use of the Denza name. PT Raden Reza Adi filed the case at the Central Jakarta District Court in early September 2026, naming seven defendants, including BYD Company Limited, PT BYD Motor Indonesia and four BYD dealer companies. The case is registered as No. 101/Pdt.Sus-HKI/Merek/2026/PN Niaga Jkt.Pst.
The plaintiff says it holds exclusive Indonesian rights to the Denza trademark, registration No. IDM001176306, in class 12, covering vehicles and their components. It alleges the defendants used the name without authorization and in bad faith, and argues that BYD benefited commercially from that use. These are claims made in the lawsuit; the source does not report a court ruling.
PT Raden Reza Adi is seeking Rp 9,515,800,000,000 (about Rp 9.52 trillion) in material damages, with the defendants jointly responsible for payment. It also wants them ordered to stop importing, producing, assembling, distributing, selling or promoting Denza-branded vehicles, and to withdraw from Indonesia products it says resulted from the alleged infringement. The requested restrictions also cover other marks considered substantially similar to Denza.
