BYD has opened a large recruitment drive at its Xi'an complex, the company's biggest manufacturing site, with multiple plants and business units seeking more than 8,000 workers at once. Signing bonuses of up to 6,000 yuan ($889) are on offer and monthly pay can reach 10,000 yuan, with skilled roles in welding, painting, and final assembly making up a big share of the openings.

The push follows a period of disruption. In the first half of the year, the switch to the second-generation Blade Battery and assembly-line upgrades constrained output of several models, prompting the site to cut headcount and move some employees to Zhengzhou, Hefei, and the Shenzhen-Shanwei cooperation zone. All four Xi'an plants have since returned to normal schedules, and a wave of export orders has exposed the labor shortage, according to an analyst cited by Yicai.

Provincial data underline the turnaround. Shaanxi's vehicle output had fallen nearly 50 percent year-on-year over the first seven months, but the province built 138,900 vehicles in August, up 17.9 percent from a year earlier and 55.4 percent from July. BYD itself sold 440,293 NEVs in August, its best month of the year, as overseas deliveries jumped 134.5 percent to a record 189,466 units even while domestic sales slipped 14.3 percent.

The Xi'an hub builds high-volume models from the Dynasty and Ocean lineups along with some premium-brand products. Output could return to its previous peak, the analyst believes, though with export lines running full schedules and domestic-market models facing brutal competition, a full recovery in annual volume will be hard to achieve.
