BYD will present an updated Seal U in Spain on November 19. The SUV is currently offered as both a fully electric model and a plug-in hybrid. The report expects a substantial technology update with restrained exterior changes, rather than a major redesign; it does not provide revised prices or a European-market specification sheet.

Expected exterior revisions include updated headlights, colors and wheel designs. Inside, the rotating central display is set to be replaced by a system with Google integration, bringing the Seal U into line with several other BYD models sold in Europe. The plug-in hybrid is also expected to receive system improvements. Better charging and electric range are anticipated, but the possibility of an 800-volt architecture in the battery-electric version is still unresolved. The article also says BYD’s second-generation Blade battery may feature, while noting that details remain uncertain.

The Seal U recorded 7,500 Spanish registrations from January through July 2026, making it BYD’s second-best-selling model there after the Atto 2, which reached 9,947. As a point of reference—not a specification for the European car—the report cites China’s Song Ultra EV: a 4,850-mm-long SUV with a 270-kW rear motor and claimed rapid charging from 10% to 70% in about five minutes. It cautions that the European Seal U will not be an exact copy and will omit some equipment, including lidar.
