Spy photos from China have provided a first look inside the second-generation BYD Seal 07. The redesigned cabin replaces the current car’s circular crystal gear selector with a shifter mounted behind the steering wheel. Images also show a four-spoke flat-bottom wheel, a digital instrument display, two wireless charging pads and revised console switches. BYD has not confirmed the full equipment list.
The cabin images follow an exterior preview shared on September 28 by Zhang Zhuo, head of BYD’s Ocean sales division. The updated sedan is listed in Chinese regulatory filings at 5,080 mm long, 1,960 mm wide and 1,495 mm tall, with a 2,960 mm wheelbase. That makes it 85 mm longer and 50 mm wider than the current Seal 07 EV, with 60 mm added to the wheelbase. Test-car images also show a full-width rear light and roof-mounted LiDAR, though the sensor does not establish which driver-assistance system will be offered.
China EV DataTracker figures show combined September sales of the Seal 07 EV and DM-i at 624, down from 995 in August. The plug-in hybrid accounted for most of the decline, with 296 sales, while the EV recorded 328. Listed EV configurations offer 245 kW or 300 kW, batteries of 76.744 kWh or 88.682 kWh, and maximum CLTC ranges of 775 km or 875 km. The new DM-i pairs a 115 kW 1.5-litre turbo engine with a 160 kW electric motor and a 38.029 kWh battery. BYD has yet to announce pricing or a launch date in China.
