BYD plans to offer its Racco electric kei car beyond Japan in right-hand-drive markets. Orders have opened in Macau, and the model is scheduled to launch in Sri Lanka on October 9. BYD Indonesia has also shown the car on its social media channels; a company executive said in September that the team was researching the Indonesian market and seeking feedback, but did not confirm a sales plan there.
The Racco has been sold in Japan since July 2026, where it is aimed at the kei-car segment. It received 1,002 orders in its first two weeks, and BYD is targeting 10,000 orders by the end of 2026. The car measures 3,395 mm long, 1,475 mm wide and 1,800 mm high, with a 2,520 mm wheelbase. It seats four and has a 280-litre luggage compartment.
Buyers can choose between lithium iron phosphate batteries rated at 22.4 kWh and 35.84 kWh. The electric motor produces up to 47 kW (about 63 hp) and 160 Nm. BYD quotes a driving range of 210–320 km, depending on battery size. The 22.4-kWh version supports DC charging at up to 35.8 kW using CHAdeMO, while the larger-battery version can charge at up to 49.7 kW.
