Chery is considering introducing the Tiggo V to Brazil, according to sources cited at the company’s International User Summit in Wuhu, China. The seven-seat plug-in hybrid is still new in China, and no Brazilian launch or timing has been confirmed. If it comes to the market, it would be sold through Caoa, which holds the rights to market Chery’s Tiggo range in Brazil. Caoa did not comment on the reported discussions.
The Tiggo V uses Chery’s sixth-generation Super Hybrid system, pairing a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with two electric motors and a dedicated hybrid transmission. Chery has not disclosed system output, but quotes combined fuel consumption of 16.6 km per liter and total range exceeding 1,000 km. The vehicle measures 4.91 meters long, has a 2.80-meter wheelbase and 22 centimeters of ground clearance. Its safety equipment includes front-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring and multiple airbags.
In SUV or MPV form, the cabin seats up to seven across three rows; second-row seats can slide by as much as 38 centimeters. A modular rear structure lets the roof and rear windows move forward electrically, changing the enclosed vehicle into a double-cab pickup with a 600-liter open bed. Chery says the structure uses 76% high-strength steel and aluminum. The company presents the model as part of its For Family concept, emphasizing space and flexible use.
