A video from Jinshan, in China’s Jiangsu province, shows a Fang Cheng Bao Bao 8 driving with its front-left wheel raised and a yellow-and-red wheel clamp still attached. The SUV is also known as the Denza B8 outside China. The footage may look like an attempt to get around the immobilizer, but the reason the clamp was fitted is not known.

The vehicle’s DiSus-P Ultra hydraulic suspension, developed by BYD, can adjust the height of each wheel independently. It can lift one wheel by as much as 300 millimeters while the other three stay on the ground. The system offers up to 200 millimeters of suspension adjustment and a stated lifting capacity of nine tonnes. In official demonstrations, BYD set a maximum speed of 15 km/h for driving on three wheels.

The technology debuted in May 2026 on the Fang Cheng Bao 8 Flash Charge Edition, a plug-in hybrid priced from 419,800 yuan in China—about 1.1 million Mexican pesos, according to the source. BYD’s intended uses are off-road: helping the SUV clear obstacles or get unstuck, and making it possible to change a tire without a hydraulic jack.
