BYD’s premium Fang Cheng Bao brand has revealed more details of the Ti 9, a large plug-in hybrid SUV due to launch in China in the coming weeks. The six-seat model measures 5.27 meters long, 1.99 meters wide and 1.85 or 1.88 meters tall, depending on version, with a 3.13-meter wheelbase. Its gross vehicle weight is listed at 3,495 kg.
The Ti 9’s powertrain combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine rated at 154 hp with two electric motors, one on each axle, that produce a combined 536 hp. The battery has a capacity of 66.5 kWh. Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology figures give the SUV an electric-only range of up to 310 km and a total range of as much as 2,300 km when gasoline use is included.
The cabin has a 30-inch display, an LCD instrument screen and a head-up display. Exterior details include angular styling, 21- or 22-inch wheels and a split-opening tailgate. The report also points to possible Brazilian interest, but says there is no confirmation that the Ti 9 will be sold there. Denza has announced plans to bring three vehicles to Brazil; the Denza Z electric sports car, rated at 1,604 hp, is the one already revealed.
