BYD unveiled the second-generation Seagull in Zhengzhou, Henan, on Oct. 20, with five versions priced from 65,900 yuan ($9,810) to 99,900 yuan. That entry price is 4,000 yuan below the starting price of the previous-generation 2026 model. Buyers can also receive a 3,000-yuan discount through the announced trade-in offer.
The Comfort, Flying and Smart versions cost 75,900 yuan, 82,900 yuan and 99,900 yuan, respectively. Each has a 39.2-kWh battery, a claimed CLTC range of 420 km and flash-charging capability: at compatible stations, BYD says charging from 10% to 70% takes five minutes. The Vitality and Freedom versions start at 65,900 yuan and 72,900 yuan, use a 30.1-kWh battery and offer 320 km of CLTC range. Buyers of the three higher-spec versions may receive one year of free charging at BYD flash-charging stations for non-commercial use.
At 4,205 mm long, the new Seagull is 425 mm longer than its predecessor and has a 2,650-mm wheelbase. It now seats five, gains a 94-liter front trunk and offers up to 1,380 liters of rear cargo space with the seats folded. BYD also switches to rear-wheel drive, adds independent multi-link rear suspension and increases motor output to 85 kW or 95 kW, depending on version.
The Seagull sold 38,650 units in September, up 11.75% year over year, but deliveries for the first nine months fell 33.22% to 265,901. Its 2025 full-year sales were 529,537, and cumulative sales reached about 1.55 million by the end of September 2026.
