A review of the BYD Seal 6 DM-i Premium in Singapore found the plug-in hybrid family sedan notably polished on the road, with a smooth powertrain and a settled, comfortable ride. The tested Premium produces a combined 219 bhp and 260 Nm, compared with 174 bhp for the Dynamic variant. BYD quotes a 1,300 km WLTP range and fuel consumption of 4.0 L/100 km; the review notes that real-world petrol use depends on driving and how often the battery is charged.

The system pairs a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and a 19 kWh LFP Blade Battery. The engine can generate electricity or drive the front wheels in some conditions, while the system manages the change between electric and petrol-assisted operation. The Premium has a single-speed transmission, a 0–100 km/h time of 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h. Charging figures listed are 2.7 hours on AC and 21 minutes from 30 to 80 per cent on DC.

At 4,840 mm long, with a 2,790 mm wheelbase, the Seal 6 offers useful rear legroom and a 491-litre boot. Its MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension deliver a composed ride, though the reviewer wanted more steering feedback and found the petrol engine more noticeable under hard acceleration. The cabin is described as well assembled but not luxurious, and some functions rely heavily on the touchscreen.

The review presents the car as a practical option for Singapore drivers who can charge at home or work, while petrol retains convenience for longer journeys. It compares the BYD with the Honda Civic e:HEV, Hyundai Avante Hybrid and Toyota Corolla Altis Hybrid, as well as the fully electric Kia EV4 and Tesla Model 3. The reviewer says the BYD stands out for space, performance and refinement.
