BYD Philippines and its distributor, ACMobility, have confirmed a safety recall affecting local Shark 6 DMO units. The issue involves the spare-tire lifter assembly, which may have been positioned incorrectly during manufacture.

The faulty positioning can cause the support cable to wear and break, potentially allowing the spare wheel to come loose while the vehicle is moving. BYD warns that this could lead to an accident, injuries or fatalities, or property damage.

Owners who have previously removed and reinstalled the spare tire are advised to take it off the hub for now, following the instructions in the owner’s manual. Those who have not removed it do not need to take action at this time.

BYD plans to replace the lifter assembly with an updated part at no cost through authorized dealers. No availability date was provided; dealers are expected to contact owners when the replacement part is ready. Owners can also contact a BYD dealership or BYD Customer Care in the Philippines.
