BYD introduced the Atto 8 at the Paris Motor Show, positioning the 5.04-meter electric SUV as the Chinese automaker’s flagship and offering seating for seven. The European lineup is planned with two powertrain choices: Design RWD and Excellence AWD.
The rear-drive Design uses a single motor rated at 462 hp and 365 Nm. BYD lists a 0–100 km/h time of eight seconds and a WLTP range of 653 km. The all-wheel-drive Excellence adds a second motor, raising combined output to 775 hp and 775 Nm; it reaches 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, with a claimed range of 602 km.
Both versions use BYD’s second-generation Blade battery, with 115 kWh of capacity, and support the company’s Flash rapid-charging system. BYD says charging from 10% to 70% takes five minutes, while reaching 97% takes nine minutes. At temperatures as low as -30°C, it says a 20%–97% charge takes 12 minutes. The company plans to expand its Flash network in Europe to 3,000 stations by the end of 2027.
Cabin features include a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, a 15.6-inch multimedia screen with Google integration and a 26-inch panoramic projection display. The SUV also has three-zone climate control and heated, ventilated and massaging front seats. Cargo capacity is 270 liters with all three rows in use, rising to 1,960 liters when the middle and rear rows are folded; a separate 136-liter front compartment is also provided.
