BYD is discussing bringing its next-generation ultra-fast EV charging technology to Pakistan with local partner Mega Motor Company, but no rollout date has been set. BYD Vice President Liu Xueliang described the talks in an interview with BR Research, saying progress depends on infrastructure readiness, discussions with stakeholders and future vehicle plans.
The system pairs BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery with its FLASH Charging technology, which can deliver up to 1,500 kW through one connector. BYD’s stated figures for compatible vehicles are a charge from 10% to 70% in five minutes and from 10% to 97% in nine minutes. At minus 30°C, the company says a 20%-to-97% charge takes 12 minutes. These are manufacturer figures for vehicles using the new battery and charging system, not charging times promised for all BYD models in Pakistan.
Liu said existing BYD vehicles would be compatible with the charging infrastructure, although their charging speeds would vary. A vehicle’s own charging capability depends on its battery and how quickly it can accept power, so a high-powered charger alone does not guarantee the fastest charging performance.
Separately, BYD’s Pakistan assembly plant is approaching its planned launch in the second half of 2026. It is designed to build 25,000 vehicles annually, with the option to expand capacity to 50,000. The report gives no confirmed dates for either the charging rollout or the plant launch.
