CATL and Seres signed a long-term strategic agreement in Chongqing on October 10, 2026, covering expanded battery production for Seres’ Aito brand as well as charging and overseas business. Aito will continue to use CATL batteries across its lineup. CATL said the brand’s cumulative deliveries have exceeded 1.2 million vehicles.
The companies plan to accelerate the second phase of a battery facility embedded within Seres’ vehicle plant. That phase is designed for annual capacity of 10 to 12 GWh; when both phases are complete, their combined capacity is expected to exceed 20 GWh a year. The arrangement builds on CATL’s two CTP 2.0 pack-production lines at the site, which began operating on June 30, 2025. That project was CATL’s first production base in Chongqing and its first use of the plant-in-plant model.
The partners also intend to work together on supercharging networks and battery services spanning the battery lifecycle, and to pursue opportunities in Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia. The announcement did not specify when the second phase will start operating, the agreement’s term, or plans for particular overseas markets or models.
The deal follows a separate five-year Seres-Huawei agreement signed on September 30 to develop the Aito business. CATL also remains a major supplier in the wider EV market: its battery installations reached 333.0 GWh globally in January-August 2026, up 25.2% year on year, for a 39.4% share, according to SNE Research.
