CATL has agreed to develop aviation batteries for Blue Vector Intelligent Technology, a Hangzhou-based Chinese eVTOL maker, and will serve as the exclusive battery partner for its Skyla V30 aircraft. The companies signed strategic and product cooperation agreements, according to CATL. They did not disclose the partnership’s value, battery specifications or a supply schedule.
The Skyla V30 is a six-seat, all-electric tiltrotor designed for intercity passenger trips. Its first full-scale technology demonstrator, designated A/C01, rolled out in Harbin on August 31, 2026. Blue Vector said it would proceed with systems integration, ground testing and tilt-transition flight tests as the project enters full-aircraft engineering validation.
Blue Vector announced pre-sales orders for 60 V30s on September 24, including 30 from Singapore-based operator Moon Aero. It said cumulative pre-sales had exceeded 100 aircraft since the model’s global debut in July. The company also raised more than RMB 100 million in a funding round announced in June. The CATL agreement adds to the battery maker’s electric-aviation activity: in 2024, it agreed to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in Shanghai-based Autoflight and jointly develop eVTOL batteries.
