Chery Group says cumulative vehicle sales worldwide have reached 20 million. Executive Vice President Guibing Zhang announced the milestone in Wuhu, China, describing it as evidence that the company’s vehicles are finding wider acceptance. Chery says it has invested US$5 billion over the past five years in developing key areas including new-energy vehicles, and is also increasing its focus on AI.

Zhang said the company aims to evolve from a conventional automaker into a technology group by 2035. Chery, founded in 1997, became the first Chinese brand to record one million cumulative vehicle sales in 2007. Its group now includes Chery, Exeed, Fulwin, iCar, Luxeed and Jetour, with operations in more than 130 countries and regions.

Exports have been a major growth driver. Figures compiled by CnEVPost show Chery Group shipped about 943,000 vehicles overseas in the first half of 2026, up 71.5% from the same period a year earlier. June exports reached about 191,000 vehicles, marking a monthly record for the fourth consecutive month. The company said its overseas shipments were then equivalent to one vehicle every 17 seconds. Chery also cited Toyota as a source of lessons in vehicle durability and Tesla in electric-vehicle technology.
