Chery Australia has partnered with off-road equipment supplier Ironman 4x4 to offer accessories for the Grootman double-cab bakkie, which is marketed in Australia as the Stockman. The equipment will be available through dealerships. The Grootman is scheduled to launch in South Africa in the first quarter of 2027, where local production has also been confirmed.

The package includes an aluminium Apex bull bar with a winch cradle, two recovery points and a 4 mm skid plate. Buyers can also choose side rails and steps, a Raid roof rack with optional mounting points for extra lights, a Raid canopy, roller drawers and a rear-step tow bar. An optional IM2.5 suspension kit raises ground clearance by 50 mm; standard clearance is stated as 247 mm.

Chery says the accessories have been engineered and validated to its original-equipment requirements. Ironman 4x4 will match Chery’s seven-year manufacturer warranty for each accessory ordered. The report does not confirm whether Chery will arrange a similar partnership with South African accessory suppliers.

The Grootman’s powertrain pairs a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine with one electric motor in a plug-in hybrid system. Combined outputs are 350 kW and 800 Nm, with drive sent to all four wheels through a dedicated hybrid transmission. Its battery is a 34 kWh lithium-iron phosphate unit.
