The Tiggo 8 CSH is Chery's plug-in hybrid take on its midsize, seven-seat family SUV, built around the 'Chery Super Hybrid' system the brand says can cover roughly 1,400 kilometers on a full battery and tank. That sounds ambitious, but during a test drive that was mostly urban with brief highway stretches, the trip computer displayed consumption as high as 80 km per gallon — evidence the official figure is not far removed from reality.
Underneath sits a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine working with an 18.3-kWh battery, a DHT automatic transmission and two electric motors, for a combined output of up to 275 hp and 310 Nm. The car decides by itself whether to run on electricity, gasoline or a blend of both, while Eco, Normal and Sport modes let drivers tune the throttle response — though in Sport the brake pedal can occasionally feel overly long.
Behind the wheel it echoes its pricier Tiggo 9 sibling: compliant suspension, one of the quietest cabins among hybrids in the segment, and smooth, lag-free power delivery. The styling follows the same family playbook, headlined by a huge grille patterned with small chrome triangles and slim, elongated lights.
Inside there is a Sony-signed 12-speaker audio setup, speakers built into the driver's headrest for private phone calls, a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel and a 15.6-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Five occupants ride comfortably; the third row is best left to children or shorter adults. Safety equipment includes ten airbags, a 540-degree camera and a broad ADAS suite, and the SUV holds five Euro NCAP stars. In Colombia it was priced at 146 million pesos as of September 2026.
