Chery is planning to revive the QQ name in Brazil as an electric car, with local production a condition for the project to proceed. The company has ruled out importing the model from China, saying a straightforward import would not be competitive in Brazil’s increasingly crowded market.

Chery International CEO Zhang Guibing sees the new QQ as a potential rival to the BYD Dolphin, Geely EX2 and GAC Aion UT. The report describes it as larger than the original QQ, with a design influenced by consumer gadgets and a cabin featuring digital screens. No launch date, technical specifications or price for Brazil are provided.

The model could be sold in Brazil under the Omoda & Jaecoo brand. Chery’s earlier QQ arrived in Brazil in 2011 and became a familiar low-cost Chinese car; a later generation was also produced in Jacareí. The report says the current electric-car offer in the R$120,000–R$150,000 range is becoming crowded, making local manufacturing central to the revived model’s prospects.
