Changan’s Deepal has filed a patent application in China for a foot bath designed to be installed inside a passenger car. The application, CN122873858A, describes a basin stored in a dedicated cavity beneath the front passenger seat and deployed with a retractable mechanism attached to the vehicle body.
The design includes features intended to manage water and keep the basin stable, along with a quick-connect fitting for a vehicle-mounted pipe and a disinfection unit. The patent sets out how the equipment could be integrated while limiting its impact on cabin space, but Deepal has not announced plans to offer it in a production vehicle.
The report notes that adding the equipment could raise vehicle costs, making a higher-end model a more plausible fit than Deepal’s mainstream offerings. The brand’s current flagship is the six-seat S09 range-extended SUV, which measures 5,205 mm long and has a 3,105 mm wheelbase. Its 1.5-liter engine works with either a 40.2-kWh or 53.5-kWh battery, depending on trim. The S09 is priced in China from 239,900 to 309,900 yuan; the rear-wheel-drive version produces 231 kW, while the all-wheel-drive variant is rated at 362 kW.
