Denza, the upmarket arm of China's BYD, has officially released its new Z9S electric sedan in China. Three trims span 255,800 to 325,800 yuan (roughly $37,600 to $47,900) — about $8,000 below the pre-sale pricing. Slotting in beneath the larger Z9, the car is offered with a single rear motor producing 370 kW (496 hp) or a tri-motor all-wheel-drive layout with a combined 890 kW (1,194 hp); the hot version covers 0–100 km/h in 2.68 seconds.
Range is the headline act: depending on trim, a second-generation Blade battery of either 102.326 kWh or 122.496 kWh delivers CLTC figures of 780 km, 920 km, or 1,100 km — the top figure equating to 891 km WLTP and billed as the longest of any EV. The steel-aluminium body is 91.1% high-strength material, uses cell-to-body battery integration and claims 45,036 N·m/deg of torsional rigidity. Denza's e3 platform brings standard rear-wheel steering (a 4.75 m turning circle on the top trim), a "crab walk" mode, a compass turn function and the DiSus-A air suspension system.
Inside, buyers get a 17.3-inch central touchscreen, a 13.2-inch digital cluster, a 50-inch head-up display, Nappa leather and a suede headliner, plus a magnetic front-passenger panel for accessories and a 7-inch armrest screen for rear occupants. A roof-mounted LiDAR unit feeds the God's Eye 5.0 driver-assistance suite with navigated city and highway driving. The car measures 5,090 mm long on a 3,025 mm wheelbase and offers a 120-litre front trunk.
On price, the Z9S overlaps directly with the China-built Tesla Model 3, which lists at 235,500–339,500 yuan and remains a volume benchmark with 20,787 deliveries in August 2026, per China EV DataTracker.
