BYD's premium marque Denza has put the new Z9S sedan on sale in China in three trims spanning 255,800 to 325,800 yuan (37,600–47,900 USD), about 8,000 USD below the pre-sale figures. The mid-to-large electric model slots in as a more compact option beneath the Denza Z9, and its flagship's 1,100 km CLTC rating (891 km WLTP) is billed as the longest EV range on the market. Pricing lands almost on top of the China-built Tesla Model 3, which lists at 235,500–339,500 yuan and delivered 20,787 units in August 2026 according to China EV DataTracker.

Measuring 5,090 mm long with a 3,025 mm wheelbase, the Z9S gets a split-headlight face, a roof-mounted LiDAR unit, a 120-litre front trunk, and an active electric rear spoiler, in seven colours and 19- or 20-inch wheels. The cabin pairs a 17.3-inch centre screen and 13.2-inch instrument cluster with a 50-inch head-up display, Nappa leather, and a 7-inch rear armrest screen, while a magnetic panel on the passenger side accepts accessories such as tablets. The God's Eye 5.0 driver-assistance system covers navigated city and highway driving plus emergency braking and steering assist.

Buyers choose between a 370 kW (496 hp) single-motor rear-drive version and a tri-motor AWD flagship with a combined 890 kW (1,194 hp) that reaches 100 km/h in 2.68 seconds. All trims use a steel-aluminium chassis with 91.1% high-strength steel and aluminium content and second-generation Blade batteries in a cell-to-body layout: the 102.326 kWh pack delivers 920 km or 780 km of CLTC range depending on trim, while the flagship's 122.496 kWh pack stretches to 1,100 km. The e3 platform adds standard rear-wheel steering (a 4.75 m turning radius on the top grade), a crab-walk mode, and a compass-turn function, alongside DiSus-A air suspension.
