El Nasr Motors has begun assembling Dongfeng’s Mage EV at its factory in Egypt, marking the start of a new electric-vehicle project for the state-owned automaker. SN Automotive, a partnership between El Nasr and Egypt’s Safi Group, describes the Mage as the first locally assembled electric car at a government-owned Egyptian plant.

The vehicle is being put together under a completely knocked-down (CKD) arrangement: it arrives in parts for assembly at El Nasr, rather than being made entirely from locally produced components. SN Automotive plans to introduce it to the Egyptian market in the first quarter of 2027, with 3,000 units targeted in the first year. The partners aim for local content to reach 45% when sales begin.

The partnership has invested 5 billion Egyptian pounds in the project. The companies say the Mage is the start of a broader expansion involving additional models, while El Nasr’s wider plan is to expand production and assemble 28,000 cars over two years.

Dongfeng’s Egyptian website lists a Mage EV with 163 hp, 240 Nm of torque and a 50.82 kWh battery. Its stated range is up to 445 km under the CLTC test cycle. The listed car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds; fast charging from 30% to 80% is said to take 28 minutes, while slower charging takes about 7.9 hours.
