Dongfeng Nissan, Nissan's joint venture in China, is preparing to unveil an updated version of its N7 electric sedan on September 22, according to a report by local media outlet Yiche. The company has not yet confirmed the plan through official channels, and the refresh is expected to involve changes to the car's equipment levels.

The current N7 debuted in late April 2025 in nine variants priced between 119,900 yuan ($17,760) and 158,900 yuan, offering two single-motor options of 160 kW and 200 kW with CLTC range spanning 510 to 635 km. Its entry price matched the Xpeng Mona M03 and was widely viewed as a bold counterattack by a legacy joint-venture brand in China's price-driven EV market.

The timing of the update reflects a sharp sales slide. Retail deliveries hit a record 10,148 units in August 2025 but fell to just 928 units this August, with wholesale volume even lower at 619 units, based on CPCA data.

The N7 was the first Dongfeng Nissan model developed by a Chinese team on the company's Tianyan architecture, pairing driver-assistance tech co-developed with Momenta and a cockpit running AI models including DeepSeek-R1. It anchors an expanding N series that now spans the N6 plug-in hybrid, the NX8 EREV, and the NX7 PHEV, whose cumulative production passed 100,000 units in June, roughly 14 months after the N7's launch.
