BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao has outlined the China launch schedule for two additions to its lineup. General manager Xiong Tianbo said the six-seat Tai 9 plug-in hybrid SUV will launch after Nov. 15, 2026. Display and test-drive vehicles are expected at dealerships from late October, and the brand plans to build inventory ahead of launch. The Shark pickup is scheduled for late November or early December, with deliveries set to begin at the same time. Neither model’s exact launch date nor its price has been announced.
The Tai 9 is set to become Fang Cheng Bao’s largest SUV. Chinese regulatory filings list it at 5,270 mm long, with a 3,130 mm wheelbase. Its plug-in hybrid system pairs a 1.5-liter engine with two 200-kW electric motors, one on each axle, and a 66.48-kWh battery. The model will broaden a range that includes off-road-focused Bao 5 and Bao 8 SUVs as well as the more urban-oriented Tai 3 and Tai 7.
The Shark, meanwhile, first debuted in Mexico in May 2024 and has since reached markets including Brazil and Australia. Its Chinese filing gives dimensions of 5,457 mm long and a 3,260 mm wheelbase, and lists a 1.5-liter turbo engine, front and rear electric motors, and an LFP battery. Fang Cheng Bao sold 43,181 vehicles in September, up 79.02% year on year; sales for the first nine months reached 285,436, a 147.53% increase. Xiong said the brand had faced greater pressure during the typically strong September–October sales period, while expressing confidence in its performance.
