BYD's premium marque FangChengBao has kicked off sales of its first two conventional passenger cars in China: the Formula S fastback and the Formula S GT estate. The brand, founded in 2023 and positioned between Denza and Yangwang in the group's hierarchy, previously offered only electrified SUVs and crossovers. The expansion rides on strong momentum — CAAM figures show Chinese deliveries up 113.7% to 193,162 units in the first eight months of 2026. A Formula SL sedan will follow shortly, with the Formula X roadster slated for 2027.

Both newcomers draw styling cues from the Denza Z sports car and use a steel-aluminum body. The liftback measures 5,060 mm long on a 2,960-mm wheelbase, while the wagon gives up 35 mm of length. Every version gets double-wishbone front and five-link rear suspension with magnetorheological dampers; costlier grades add adaptive air springs, and a windshield-top lidar enabling SAE Level 2 assisted driving is standard across the board.

Cabin kit includes an 8.88-inch instrument display, a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, a 26-inch head-up display, rear entertainment screens and a 20-speaker Devialet audio system, while cargo space totals 600 liters plus a 151-liter front compartment. Buyers choose between 333-hp and 408-hp single-motor rear-drive variants or a 666-hp dual-motor AWD flagship that covers 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. Battery options of 76.7 and 92.1 kWh yield 730-900 km of CLTC range, with top speed capped at 240 km/h.

The fastback is priced at 189,900-229,900 yuan and the GT at 219,900-239,900 yuan, putting the pair in direct competition with Xiaomi's SU7 sedan, which starts at 219,900 yuan.
