Geely Auto says it plans to enter Canada in 2027 with several models, though it has not yet disclosed which vehicles will be offered. The automaker is working to establish a retail and service network in the country. Its broader brand portfolio includes Geely, Geely Galaxy, Zeekr and Lynk & Co.
The planned expansion comes as Canada allows an annual quota of 49,000 Chinese electric vehicles to enter at a 6.1% tariff, without the additional 100% duty. The quota is set to rise gradually to 70,000 vehicles a year. Tesla and Lincoln were previously identified as early beneficiaries. Geely Group has also received the lower tariff for Polestar- and Lotus-branded EVs; Geely Auto is a subsidiary of the group, rather than the group itself.
The article says BYD is also interested in Canada and suggests Geely could target more affordable segments. CarNewsChina names the EX2 and EX5 as possible high-volume products, but neither model has been confirmed for the market. Geely says it will draw on the group’s engineering, safety, electrification, technology and manufacturing capabilities.
Geely Auto reported cumulative sales of more than 2.235 million vehicles from January through September 2026, while overseas exports exceeded 797,000, up 169% year over year. September exports topped 106,000 for a fourth consecutive month above that level. New-energy vehicle exports for the month surpassed 73,000, a 403% annual increase.
