Geely says its one-millionth E2 electric hatchback rolled off the production line at its Xiangtan plant in China on October 20, 2026. The model reached the mark about two years after its global debut. Earlier production milestones included 200,000 units in May 2025, 600,000 in March 2026 and 800,000 in August 2026.
The E2 was China’s fastest-selling new car in 2025, according to the company, with 465,775 sold that year. In South Africa, the two-version range starts at R339,900. The model is built on Geely’s GEA platform, designed for battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
The hatchback measures 4,135 mm long, 1,805 mm wide and 1,580 mm tall, with a 2,650 mm wheelbase and a claimed weight of 1,300 kg. Its single rear-mounted electric motor draws power from a 39.4 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery. Geely quotes a 325 km range and average energy use of 15.2 kWh per 100 km. DC charging at up to 70 kW can take the battery from 30% to 80% in 25 minutes; a 10%-to-full AC charge takes about 6.5 hours, the company says.
