Geely's Galaxy sub-brand has opened pre-orders in China for the Battleship 700 (Zhanjian 700), a boxy mid-large plug-in hybrid SUV built on the GTA (Geely Terrain Architecture) platform for new-energy off-roaders. Six versions are on offer, starting with a 199,800 yuan 1.5T rear-drive Explorer and running through 2.0T tri-motor 4WD trims at 269,800 yuan, plus a Land Ark Edition limited to 700 units at 389,800 yuan.
The SUV stretches 5,085 mm long with a 2,900 mm wheelbase and seats five or six. Its unibody is reinforced with an integrated frame that Geely claims delivers over 40,000 Nm/degree of torsional rigidity, while off-road hardware includes 233 mm of ground clearance, 30/31-degree approach and departure angles, and 800 mm of wading depth. Inside, a console-mounted Off-road Control Island keeps physical switches for drive functions, alongside 14-point massage front seats, a dual-access 18.5-litre fridge and a two-way opening panoramic roof.
Three drivetrain layouts are available: 1.5T with one motor in rear-drive form or three motors in 4WD, and a 2.0T tri-motor 4WD flagship. All use a 47.14 kWh CATL LFP battery supporting up to 300 kW DC charging. The rear-drive version is rated at 305 km of electric range and 1,770 km combined on the CLTC cycle, while the 2.0T flagship delivers a combined 1,129 PS, hits 100 km/h in 3.95 seconds, and pairs independent P4 motors (220 kW each) with a rear mechanical diff lock that engages in roughly 0.2 seconds. Dual-chamber air suspension with CCD damping, Crab Walk, a 3.36-metre U-turn function and an NVIDIA Thor-U-based driving setup with three LiDARs complete the package.
Demand was strong out of the gate: Geely reports over 10,000 pre-orders in the first nine minutes and 43,900 within an hour, with the limited Land Ark Edition fully booked in 12 minutes. The Battleship 700 enters a hotly contested Chinese new-energy off-road segment where BYD's Fang Cheng Bao and GWM's Tank brands already compete.
