Geely Auto plans to begin operating in Canada in 2027, marking a new step in the Chinese automaker’s international expansion. The company is developing a network of dealerships and service workshops, while its Canadian model lineup remains unannounced.

The EX2 and EX5 are possible candidates, but Geely has not confirmed that either will be offered in Canada. The report says the brand is aiming at higher-volume segments, where price, driving range and technology equipment are important purchase considerations. BYD has also expressed interest in the Canadian market, setting up potential competition as both companies firm up their product and sales plans.

Geely reported more than 2.23 million vehicle sales worldwide from January through September 2026, including over 797,000 exports. Export volume was up 169% from the same period a year earlier. The report describes Geely as the first Chinese brand to establish an official presence in Canada. It also notes that Canada imports about 49,000 vehicles from China annually, subject to a 6.1% tariff and exempt from a previously imposed additional 100% surcharge. The import allowance is expected to rise gradually to 70,000 vehicles a year.
