Geely Auto and its partners have completed the first engineering unit of the EVA Cab, a robotaxi developed from the outset for driverless passenger services. The project is now moving into physical-vehicle validation, ahead of a planned 2027 start of series production for a version tailored to CaoCao Mobility, the ride-hailing platform within Geely’s business ecosystem.
Unlike a conventional car retrofitted for autonomous driving, the EVA Cab is designed around driverless operation. Its prototype has no steering wheel or traditional driving controls, while its cabin is arranged for passengers. Geely has also shown electrically powered sliding side doors and an interior intended to support interaction among occupants. The model was presented internationally at Auto China 2026 in April.
Autohome reports that the vehicle uses an H9 computing system rated at 1,400 TOPS and Step 3.5 AI, described as having 196 billion parameters. Its perception suite includes 43 sensors, including LiDAR and high-definition cameras. Geely’s AI digital-chassis technology is said to respond in four milliseconds. The report cautions that these specifications are not independent proof of performance in every driving condition.
Validation will need to establish how the integrated systems perform in real-world use, including complex and uncommon situations, before broader commercial operation. The CaoCao partnership also links vehicle development with the practical demands of a fleet service, such as ride allocation, vehicle availability, maintenance and fleet management. Deployment plans beyond the production target remain dependent on the project’s progress.
