Geely has built its one-millionth Xingyuan, a small electric vehicle, about two years after the model went on sale in China. Geely Galaxy, the automaker’s sub-brand, announced the production milestone on October 20 and said the Xingyuan is currently selling at an average rate of one vehicle per minute. The model is marketed overseas as the Geely EX2.

Launched in China on October 9, 2024, the Xingyuan competes mainly with BYD’s Seagull and Dolphin. Its cumulative production reached 200,000 units in May 2025, 600,000 in March 2026 and 800,000 in August 2026. In 2025, it recorded 465,775 retail sales in China, the highest total of any vehicle model in the country, according to CPCA data.

Sales have eased this year amid weakness in China’s broader auto market. From January through September, the Xingyuan sold 310,391 units at retail, down 9.60% year on year. September sales were 44,275, down 7.91% from a year earlier but up 11.66% from August, making it the model’s strongest month of 2026 so far.

Geely introduced an updated version in China on May 28 with a limited-time starting price of 61,800 yuan (about $9,200), 6% below the previous version. It uses CATL battery cells and offers CLTC range options of 310, 410 and 480 kilometers. The EX2 also supports Geely’s overseas push: it entered Brazil in November 2025, and local mass production began in June 2026 at a Renault-Geely joint-venture plant.
