GWM’s Haval H6 has provisionally overtaken the Jeep Compass to become Brazil’s best-selling medium SUV in 2026, according to preliminary October registration figures. The H6 had 5,342 registrations for the month and 44,020 for the year to date, compared with 43,534 for the Compass—a lead of 486 vehicles. The October tally covers registrations through the 29th, except for the BYD Song Pro, whose figures run through the 27th.
Fiat’s Strada pickup topped the overall October table with 13,965 units, more than 5,000 ahead of the Hyundai HB20, which recorded 8,863. The BYD Dolphin Mini was third with 7,976, followed by the Fiat Argo and Volkswagen Polo. The HB20’s result was its strongest monthly showing of 2026. The Dolphin Mini remained in third place for a second consecutive month, while a late rise in registrations lifted the Polo from ninth to fifth.
The H6’s October total was more than 2,000 units above the Compass’s 3,234. The report links the GWM SUV’s stronger performance to the arrival of flex-fuel hybrid versions and the start of production in Iracemápolis, São Paulo state. Some H6 configurations also qualify for IPVA tax exemptions in São Paulo. The Compass, based on a generation introduced in 2016, does not yet offer an electrified version; Jeep has cut the entry model’s price to below R$140,000, and mild-hybrid versions may provide a response later in the year.
