Indonesia's domestic automotive paint sector is looking to move upmarket. Penta Prima, a flagship paint brand of PT Bina Adidaya with more than three decades of history in the country, is pushing its Penta OTO refinish line against the imported brands that have long dominated body repair, repainting and modification work. The company now sits under PT Singa Investindo Development, a grouping it says was formed to strengthen business development, capacity, innovation and competitiveness.

President Director Boediono Tjiptodihardjo argues that Indonesia is not only a large market but also capable of producing goods that can compete internationally, and says Penta Prima is central to building a homegrown brand with a solid industrial foundation. To that end, the company has invested in production capacity, research and development, quality control and a distribution network spanning multiple regions.

Since 2023 the company has worked to embed itself in Indonesia's car culture, appearing at events such as the Indonesia Modification & Lifestyle Expo, HIN IAM and Kustomfest Jogja, where it showed its Penta OTO Series and Super Gloss Series alongside a full painting system from undercoat to topcoat. It served as main sponsor of The Elite Showcase 2026 and demonstrated its finishes on a range of modified vehicles. Director Agus Santosa frames the move into the middle-up segment as more than offering a cheaper local alternative — the goal is proving Indonesian products can match foreign brands on quality, performance, technology and consistency.

Penta Prima has also opened a training centre to develop professional painters, arguing that finish quality depends on applicator skill as much as on the paint itself. Going forward, it aims to round out its portfolio into a full refinish system covering primer, base coat, clear coat and supporting products for body shops, repaint work and modifiers.
