Camouflaged Jetour T1 and T2 SUVs have been spotted testing in Australia, including at Bondi Beach, ahead of the Chinese brand’s expected local launch in 2027. The two crossovers are expected to be Jetour’s first Australian offerings. Although Jetour belongs to Chery Group, it is set to operate separately from Chery, Omoda Jaecoo and the group’s other brands in Australia, with its own distribution and back-office operations.
The T1 and T2 share a platform and powertrains and are close in size, but have different styling: the T1 is more rounded, while the T2 is squarer and more upright. The T1 measures 4,705mm long with a 2,800mm wheelbase; the T2 is 4,785mm long and has the same wheelbase. Both are unibody SUVs, rather than body-on-frame off-roaders.
South African versions provide an indication of the range, though Australian specifications have not been confirmed. Petrol options there include a 125kW 1.5-litre turbo with front-wheel drive and a 180kW 2.0-litre turbo with all-wheel drive. Plug-in hybrid T1 i-DM and T2 i-DM versions use an 18.4kWh battery; their claimed NEDC electric ranges are 100km and 90km respectively. The T1 i-DM produces 250kW, while the T2 i-DM delivers 265kW.
Jetour also plans to bring the larger F700 dual-cab ute and G700 off-road SUV to Australia, but those models are not expected before the second half of 2027. The T1 and T2 will join a crowded mid-size SUV market, competing with models from within Chery Group as well as other brands.
