MIIT audit names Geely EX2 and BYD Qin L DM-i over catalogue mismatches

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has published results from its 2025 annual production conformity audit of new energy vehicles, with sample units of the Geely EX2 and BYD Qin L DM-i among seven models cited across four non-compliance categories. The findings apply only to the vehicles sampled, not to fleet-wide recalls. In the Geely case, tied to Zhejiang Haoqing Automobile Manufacturing and model code JL7001BEV71, the inspected car's wheelbase strayed beyond the 1% tolerance permitted against its official catalogue entry; the EX2, sold domestically as the Xingyuan, recently opened European orders ahead of showroom arrivals in September. BYD's citation, under model code BYD7153WT6HEV, concerns the Qin L DM-i's fuel consumption in charge-sustaining mode, which tested above the company's declared figure. Neither the measured wheelbase nor the tested consumption was published. MIIT said remedies could range from rectification orders to suspension or revocation of catalogue entries, without specifying what was applied to either automaker. The disclosure follows the August 27 launch of a one-year, four-ministry nationwide campaign on vehicle quality and conformity, in which MIIT urged makers to tighten controls and "resolutely resist irrational competition." Both models remain high-volume sellers despite steep declines: the Xingyuan moved 32,306 units in July, down 27.0% year over year, while the Qin L DM-i managed 7,732, a 68.4% yearly drop.
