Nio said its battery-swap network passed 130 million cumulative services on Nov. 3, reaching the mark 88 days after its total crossed 120 million. Over that period, swaps averaged more than 110,000 a day. A Nio, Onvo or Firefly vehicle completed a swap about every 0.77 seconds on average, according to the company.
Nio counted 4,236 swap stations in China, 230 more than on Aug. 7. Its 5,556 charging stations provide 32,261 charging piles; together, the charging and swapping networks total 9,792 sites. The company said 84.5% of users live or work within 3 kilometers of a swap station, compared with 80.1% in August. Its 1,077 highway stations link 550 cities, while charging and swap facilities cover 92 scenic routes. Nio plans to extend that route coverage to 100 by the end of 2026.
The network’s latest expansion follows the first deployments of Nio’s fifth-generation swap stations in seven cities on Aug. 7. Their platform can accommodate different wheelbases, allowing Nio, Onvo and Firefly models to use the same facilities; Firefly gained swap access for the first time. Nio also reported 6.89 billion kWh delivered through swaps and estimated the service had saved users about 110 million hours compared with charging. The company says its infrastructure has reached economies of scale and supports vehicle sales growth.
