Omoda is preparing the Omoda 2 and its Jaecoo sibling, the Jaecoo 3, as entry-level SUVs for Brazil. The two projects were confirmed at this year’s Beijing auto show, but the vehicles have not yet been developed; the report expects them to arrive around 2028. Each is intended to reflect the design identity of its respective brand and compete in Brazil’s highly contested entry-SUV segment.
The plans follow a change in role for the Omoda 4. First shown as the Omoda 3 in April 2025, it was renamed and repositioned below the Omoda 5, but will now target established compact SUVs such as the Volkswagen T-Cross, Honda HR-V and Hyundai Creta rather than entry-level rivals. In Brazil, it is expected to use the Omoda 5’s hybrid system: a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 135 hp and 20.4 kgfm, paired with a 204-hp electric motor, for combined output of 224 hp and 30.1 kgfm.
The Omoda 4 is expected in Brazil in the first half of next year, with an estimated price of R$140,000–R$150,000, close to the current Omoda 5’s range. The report says local manufacturing will be essential for the Omoda 2 to compete with rivals selling around 7,000 units a month. Omoda Jaecoo’s negotiations to acquire Land Rover’s factory in Itatiaia, Rio de Janeiro, may therefore gain pace.
