Proton reported exports of 7,370 vehicles in the first nine months of 2026, surpassing the 6,000 units shipped from its Tanjong Malim plant during all of 2025. The total includes both Proton- and Geely-branded vehicles, and the company said Geely exports made up most of the increase.
The milestone had already been reached by August, when cumulative exports stood at 6,059 units. Proton shipped 2,477 vehicles that month, its strongest monthly export result since January 2011. The 2026 Geely Okavango is among the vehicles assembled at Tanjong Malim for export.
Proton also reported Malaysian sales of 19,465 vehicles in September, bringing its year-to-date total to 160,886. That exceeded the company’s full-year 2025 sales of 157,976, with the final quarter still ahead. The Saga led September deliveries with 8,701 units and had reached 68,237 for the year, up 34.5% from the same period last year. The X50 recorded 1,995 September sales and 20,163 year to date; the X90 reached 430 and 3,250, respectively.
Proton said sales of its eMas battery-electric and plug-in hybrid range—comprising the eMas 5, eMas 7 and eMas 7 PHEV—had passed 40,000 units. That mark came 21 months after the eMas 7 launched in December 2024.
